What is this dataset?

It covers all TSP funds in the official daily share price file: each fund's description, its latest share price with an as-of date, its year-to-date return, and its calendar-year returns. Core fund returns begin in 2004, the first full year in the TSP's daily file; L Fund returns begin with each fund's first full year. The L 2025 Fund matured into the L Income Fund in 2025 and no longer appears (TSP, retrieved 2026-09-10).

How do I read the table?

  • Latest priceThe fund's share price on the as-of date shown.
  • YTDChange from the last price of the prior year to the as-of date.
  • Annual returnChange from one year-end price to the next.
  • L FundsMixes of the five core funds that shift toward the G and F Funds as their target date nears.

What rules drive these numbers?

Each core fund tracks a defined investment: the G Fund holds special Treasury securities with principal protected; the F Fund tracks a broad U.S. bond index; the C Fund tracks the S&P 500; the S Fund tracks U.S. stocks outside the S&P 500; and the I Fund tracks international stocks (TSP, retrieved 2026-07-05). Share prices are net of fund expenses. We derive annual returns as year-end price over prior year-end price, which matched TSP's published figures in spot checks (C Fund 2024 and 2023, and 2008).

Where to go next

Compare what each fund holds and its risks in the TSP funds guide, and see contributions and the match in the TSP calculator. Start with TSP basics if you are new.

Fund choices near retirement are a common question in a review.

FFEBA is an education organization. If you want someone to look at your own numbers, we can match you with a Federal Retirement Consultant (FRCĀ®), a professional trained on federal benefits. The FRC designation is listed with FINRA. The first review is free, nothing is booked until you choose a time, and you are never obligated to work with anyone we introduce. Get matched with an FRC.

Questions about this data

What is the TSP share price?

A TSP share price is the net asset value of one share of a fund on a given day, published daily by the TSP. Your account value equals your shares times the price. Prices already reflect fund earnings and expenses.

How are these annual returns calculated?

We divide each fund's last share price of a year by its last price of the prior year and subtract one. This matches the TSP's published annual returns in our spot checks, such as the C Fund's 2024 and 2023 figures.

Why do the core fund returns start in 2004?

The TSP's daily price file begins on May 31, 2003, so 2004 is the first full calendar year we can compute. Earlier official returns exist on tsp.gov but are not in this table.

What is the G Fund rate?

The G Fund earns a rate set monthly by the Treasury from the yields on U.S. Treasury securities, and its principal cannot lose value. Its price history is in the table. The current monthly rate is published on tsp.gov.
